Well I am finally feeling better. Munchkin ended up getting sick, too. Hubby even had to take a day off work last week to take care of us.
This weekend we went out of town because Hubby's grandpa is not doing well. Munchkin and I stayed at my parents' house to keep everyone in Hubby's family from getting sick while Hubby spent time with his family. Please keep us in your prayers as we wait the inevitable.
And, hopefully to spread some smiles, I have posted a picture of Munchkin. This was taken a few weeks ago. You can probably tell by his outfit. We've been wearing pants and jackets around here these days.
And yes, that is a colander on his head.

Apple Fest
Yesterday Deanna Rose was having an Apple Fest. It was beautiful weather so we took Munchkin.
Right as you walk in there were two people playing music by turning a crank on a big box. I'm sure there is a technical name for it, but I don't know what it is. On the side of the box was a toy monkey that swayed to the music. Of course Munchkin loooovvveeeddd it. You can see him holding the monkey's hand.
In the milking barn they had cloggers. It was packed so Munchkin had to sit on daddy's shoulders.
Here are the cloggers.
Munchkin petting a goat.
Feeding the baby goats. You can see they had Munchkin cornered! He would give them one piece of food at a time and then say, "Yum, yum, yum!"

We are so blessed to have a place like Deanna Rose close by. Munchkin loves it. It feels like we're back home and out of the city. And maybe best of all....it is free! I'm sure we have many years of good times ahead of us at Deanna Rose.

First Mizzou Football Game
Getting ready to hit the road with Gpa and Gma. (Notice the tiger tail on the back of the car?)
Toward the end of the game. We were on the very last row - perfect for diaper changes!!! Ha!

Busy Week
This as been a fairly busy week for me and Munchkin. Monday we went to the library for Rhyme Time. This is a program for 12 to 24 month olds. We sang songs with actions, and read some books. It is every Monday until almost the end of the year. We'll go as much as we can as Munchkin loved it!!!
Tuesday we went to church because I'm doing a Bible study with our MOPS group. It is on the off Tuesdays of the month. So that means every Tuesday Munchkin will get to go play in the nursery at church - something he loves! Tuesday afternoon we played in water and mud at Mason's house. The boys had a blast.
Yesterday we stayed at home and played. We spent the morning over at Mason's having all sorts of fun. It was nice to have a relaxing day.
This morning we were at church again for my MOPS table leader meeting. When I picked Munchkin up from the nursery they told me how tired he was and how he almost fell asleep. Wouldn't you know he only took a 30 minute nap today. Ugh! When we do have a second child, I'm really hoping for one that sleeps! Ha!
Tomorrow Munchkin gets a flu shot and we'll be doing lots of laundry. I'll be posting pictures from Munchkin's first Mizzou football game soon!

A Welcome Break
Munchkin is napping right now...a very welcomed break for me. It has been a rough morning. I know, I know, rough is completely relative. Compared to most, my morning was a breeze, but still, I was ready for naptime.
First, I feel like I've said the word "no" about a gazillion times today. That's right. A gazillion. It may not surprise you then that Munchkin has been fussy most of the morning. Things that wouldn't normally bother him are bothering him. Bothering him in the bawling-like-the-world-is-ending type of bothering. On top of that, he has been telling me every five minutes that he has to go to the bathroom. (I'm sure all you experienced potty-trainers out there are loving that!) And I think I saw him putting raisins in his diaper while I was making lunch.
Here's hoping for a mellow afternoon! :)

The Last Month in Review
We have two computers at our house - a good old regular PC and a laptop. We typically put the pictures from our cameras onto the PC. Our PC has been out of commission lately, so that is one big reason why I haven't been putting many pictures up.
I finally decided that I would just go ahead and put pictures on this computer (the laptop). So I have the last month's worth of pictures ready to put on here. That means for the next week I will be putting on pictures of things that happened since the beginning of August.
Enjoy our month in review!

Labor Day
Happy Labor Day!
I hope you enjoyed your long weekend, if you got one.
Mine was less than I expected/hoped it would be. I came down with a stomach bug that kept me up practically all night Friday night. So I spent a good part of Saturday in bed - not cleaning my house, shopping for curtain rods, and going to dinner with friends as was planned. Sunday I felt a bit better and was able to eat.....somewhat.
Today I spent most of the day with friends, so I would say that this was the best day of the weekend. Unfortunatly, now the weekend is over.
On the bright side, I got sick while Hubby was home, and he was such a huge help. He took care of Munchkin, ran errands, and made me jello! I know that wasn't exactly how he wanted to spend his weekend either. But he did get to spend lots and lots of time with our Munchkin one-on-one, which I know was good for both of them.
They did things like wrestle, watch football (Go Tigers!!!), go to Lowe's, play outside, try and conquer Munchkin's fear of cicadas, and today they went and played with Aunt N. and Uncle B.J. They are going to miss each other terribly tomorrow.
Thankfully Munchkin and I are starting up our second year of MOPS tomorrow morning. I think that should help Munchkin not be so lonesome for his daddy. Please say a prayer as I am a table leader this year. I am really looking forward to getting in the swing of things again, as I love this organization, but I am a bit anxious about leading a group of ladies. I mean, what do I know? I'm only 26 years old and I only have one child! But who am I to question God? I know He wants me in this position, so I'm going for it.
Now Hubby is putting Munchkin to bed while I get everything ready for our morning at MOPS. I better get back to it so I can spend a little bit of time relaxing with my husband before this long weekend comes to an end. Good night!

Bum Bum
Munchkin loves bees. And we have quite a few at our house. One of his favorite things to do this summer is go outside and watch the bees. He calls them "bum bums" which is his way of saying bumble. He calls all the bees bum bums even though they aren't all bumble bees.
He loves bees so much that he would blow them kisses and try to touch them.......
Maybe I should say he loved bees. After tonight who knows. You know where I'm going with this don't you?
I've tried all summer to keep him from touching them. I've tried to tell him they will hurt him. But he is a 19 month old boy. Need I say more?
Tonight he finally picked one up and it stung him. He picked it up, dropped it, looked at me with a worried expression, said, "HOT" and then proceeded to cry. Wheep is more like it.
I got the stinger out of his thumb and tried to console him. Mason and his mom were outside playing with us. She suggested putting mud on it. I tried that and it did not work at all. Especially since Munchkin hates having dirty hands.
We came inside, and I called my mom. I put a paste on it consisting of cold water and baking soda. Again, more wheeping. I tried to put ice on his thumb, but he wouldn't have it.
I was worried about how he would react to the sting. He is prone to allergies, (I'm convinced he has some) and has asthma. He was crying so hard I couldn't tell if he was wheezing or having trouble breathing. Finally I got him to stop crying. No wheezing, no trouble breathing. And almost no swelling. His them was swollen, but the rest of his hand, fingers, wrist and arm were fine. I'll admit, I was surprised.
He is a picture of his thumb. This was after we had gotten him to play in a bowl of ice water and had given him benedryl so you can barely tell it was swollen. Even so, it was never much bigger than it is in this picture except for soon after it happened.
(Sorry this isn't a very good picture. But you try and get a 19 month old boy to hold his hand still.)
