We're having a garage sale here tomorrow and Saturday. Actually our whole subdivision is...well whoever wants to participate. My mom is here taking care of Munchkin so that I can get ready for the sale. As I was going in and out today running errands to get ready guess what happened. Guess. Just guess. I'll give you a hint - the title of my post.
That's right you clever folk, our garage door broke! Hubby thinks he can fix it because we think all that is wrong with it is a cable broke. Let me clarify. We know a cable broke, but we're hoping that's all that is wrong. Thankfully (I think) I got the garage door down by hand. Again, let me clarify. I got the garage door almost completely down by hand. There is still about a foot to go. Once again, let me clarify. On the left side there is about a foot to go. On the right side there is about 9 inches to go. I tried to lift the door back up, but couldn't. I sure hope it gets fixed because weatherwise it is looking like we'll have to have our garage sale actually in our garage. That is, assuming we can get the garage door back up.
Well I better get back to pricing items. Although knowing that someone else is here to take care of Munchkin does leave me quite tempted to just hybernate down in our basement catching up on things in the blog world.

Worship Jam and a love story!!!
Thursday night I went to William Jewell (WJC) to Worship Jam. Now for a little background info: WJC is a baptist college. I wasn't raised baptist and the affiliation is not why I went there. Not that there is anything wrong with baptists. I went to Jewell because that is where I felt God calling me. It is a very small school, which is just what I wanted. It was also not too far from home, but far enough. And, I loved the fact that it was a Christian school. Although I was terribly homesick my first year and really wanted to transfer, I couldn't dismiss God's hand in my being there. Yes, I received a wonderful education at WJC, but more than that, I met some of the best people I have ever known. Here are two of them! :)
This is Jesse and Angie. Angie and I met freshman year at Worship Jam. Every Thursday night Christian Student Ministries (CSM) held/holds a worship service. We worshipped through music and a speaker. It just so happens that Angie and I met at our very first Worship Jam of our freshman year. We walked back to our dorm together. She lived in the basement, and I lived on the second floor. We instantly hit it off and have literally been best friends since.
Our freshman year Angie and I wanted to be a part of CSM and both decided to be on the worship team. This group put on Worship Jam among other things. The worship team leader that year was Jesse (a sophomore at the time). That year Angie developed a huge crush on the boy (understatement of the century! Ha!). Meanwhile my friendship with both of them grew. I heard each of them talking about other relationships, and I listened to them talk about liking each other.
Throughout the rest of our college days I got a front row seat on the rollercoaster known as their relationship! I was there when they started dating. I was there when they weren't sure what to do with their relationship. I was there when their relationship became long distance. I was there when Jesse showed up at my and Hubby's apartment with a ring! I was there when Angie called and said they were engaged. And I was blessed to be there and stand up with them at their wedding.
(Not to mention they have been a big part in my relationship with Hubby. Angie was there when I got engaged, Jesse sang at our wedding, and Angie was a bridesmaid.)
These are two of the most godly people I know. They long to be like Jesus and touch the world with His love. Their friendship has been a blessing in my life. So when Angie emailed me last week and said Jesse was leading worship at Worship Jam, of course I had to go for old time's sake. I was very emotional being back on campus. It was very emotional being back at the same place and doing the same things I was doing when my friendship with them started. There are days I wish I was still in college. I completely took that time of my life for granted. Oh to be young again sitting in the dorm with Angie talking about our boys!....On second thought, it is much better being married to them!!! Maybe college wasn't that great afterall. Ha!

Catching Up
I'm trying to catch up on what's been going on in our lives. I need to first mention that we celebrated two birthdays last week in our family. My Aunt Amy and Hubby's brother (Uncle BJ)! Happy belated birthday to you both.
Last week I had mentioned that Hubby and I had "one of those days" thankfully the next day was fine. Thursday I went to my alma mater, William Jewell College, to see a friend of mine lead worship. I'll write a separate post about this later.
Friday we went up to my parents' house. My cousin and his wife are expecting their first child in June and we had a baby shower for them. It seems every time we go to one of the grandparents' Munchkin usually gets sick or comes home sick. I'm glad to say that this time it didn't happen...but don't get too excited. Munchkin is just getting over being sick. Unfortunately Hubby is the one who got sick while we were there. He couldn't sleep Friday night and he ended up having a fever! Good grief! Maybe we should just stay home from now on. Just kidding grandparents!!!
Yesterday we came home early because of expected bad weather. I'm glad to report that we got home in time to get groceries and get the lawn mowed. Everything here is green and beautiful. What a blessing the changing seasons are.
You may be wondering why I haven't posted pictures of Munchkin lately. Well, we need to delete some pictures off our camera in order to take more. I can't bring myself to delete any even though we have them saved on the computer. I'm just going to have to bring myself to do it. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about posting the pictures of Munchkin playing at the kitchen sink. I'll put them on here soon.
Although I don't have any pictures, I'll update you a little on Munchkin. He will be 15 months old this week! We currently are working on tooth #15. We have been practicing using a fork. Today was the first day he used it all by himself! Little things like that make me so proud, but so sad at the same time. What happened to my baby?? It seems like just yesterday we were feeding him every three hours! (Although now it seems like he wants to eat every three minutes! Ha! I cannot even begin to imagine what our grocery bill will be like when he is a teenager! Yikes!) Here are the words he can say: mamma, dadda, cheese, cracker, cookie, more, no, all gone, grandma, and grandpa. He is now starting to say grandma and grandpa when he sees them. They are thrilled.
Tomorrow Munchkin and I will be heading to MOPS. I'll try to post more regularly this week! Happy Monday!

Still Here
Just wanted to post quickly to let you know I'm still here. We've just been super busy lately. There have been several days when I haven't even turned on the computer!!! We were out of town this weekend, but now we're back so I'll be posting soon. But for now, I'm going to bed. As Munchkin says, "nigh nigh."

Just one of those days
Today has been one of those days (for both me and Hubby) when it feels like the tide is working against you. Everything we've tried to get done has taken about three times longer than it should have. Not to mention the about ten extra things that got thrown at us to do today. Ok, ten extra may be a stretch, but it really has been quite the day. At this point when something goes wrong, we embrace it and laugh. I would tell you more, but am running out of time (ironic I know) because we're leaving for Bible Study soon.
Just an FYI: I ended up getting a nebulizer for Munchkin today. He did very well during his treatment today and seemed to be breathing easier! Praise God! Oh, and another praise is that our insurance covered all of it! God is good!

Nothin' like a good night's sleep
Munchkin slept through the night last night! Thanks for your prayers. Here's hoping he does again tonight.
I took a couple of pictures today of him playing at the kitchen sink, but will have to post them tomorrow because the camera is all the way upstairs, and quite frankly, I don't want to go get it right now.
I wish I had something exciting to post about, but when baby is sick, mommy's life pretty much gets put on hold.
Hubby is taking the afternoon off tomorrow, which is very exciting to both me and Munchkin, to get some things done around home. I just love being with both my boys! :)

Let the River Flow
I can't believe that Munchkin's nose is still running! Poor guy.
Well last night was almost a rerun of the night before. We were up from 11:45 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. This time a coughing fit woke him up and he had a lot of trouble going back to sleep. Even in the midst of those moments when I was really wishing he would sleep so that I could sleep I just keep reminding myself of those loooonnnggg nights when he was a newborn. I'd take a night like last night over a night with a newborn any day.
So, due to the fact that I'm pooped, that's all I'm posting for tonight. Who knows what tonight holds?!

So Far Sunday...
So far today Hubby has gone to church, Munchkin and I stayed home because he is still running a fever and has a horrible cough. And yes, his nose continues to run. He also had a burst of energy last night from about 10:45 to 12:15. Hubby and I just couldn't get him to go back to sleep - which made for a late night for us. I think I'll call the doctor tomorrow and ask about getting that machine to do breathing treatments. We'll just see how the rest of today goes.
Right now Munchkin is sleeping and Hubby and I are going through our storage room in our basement....yikes! The first weekend in May our subdivision is having a garage sale. I've already gone through the rest of our house a couple of months ago cleaning out and finding things for the sale. The storage room is our last room to go through. Man it feels good to get all the clutter out. Well...most of the clutter. I have several (ok, maybe a mountain of) boxes from when I was teaching and working on my Master's Degree. I just found a box with all my research from my first year of teaching and various edited versions of my final research paper. I just couldn't bring myself to get rid of it. Too much of my life went into that work. Besides, I think it will be fun going through it all years down the road.
So what have you been doing so far today???

Update
Well, Munchkin had a less than perfect night. I first want to say thank you to Hubby for taking care of him last night. You are the best husband and father ever! Munchkin and I love you very much.
Munchkin still has a nasty cough, and has been wheezing. He also started running a fever this morning around 6 a.m. He has an inhaler, and we had been giving it to him yesterday, but as it wasn't helping we stopped giving it to him last night. Since he was running a fever, his inhaler wasn't helping, and his breathing sounded pretty bad this morning, I took him to the doctor. They made me give him a breathing treatment using a machine. The poor guy hated it and cried through most of it, and then almost fell asleep toward the end. Thankfully the treatment took away his wheezing, but he still has a bit of a cough.
The Dr. told me to bump up the amount of puffs I give him with his inhaler and if that doesn't work, I'll need to call back and get a machine to do breathing treatments with Munchkin here at home.
Needless to say, we'd appreciate your prayers! Thanks!

So what did we do?
As of yesterday morning, Hubby and I still hadn't decided what to do on our date. Then, yesterday afternoon, as Munchkin was pouring apple juice into our DVD player, I had the best idea! I called Hubby right away and told him we needed to go to Nebraska Furniture Mart and find a new cabinet for our TV. The one we have is great (it was free as a hand-me-down) but it doesn't protect our DVDs and DVD player like it should against "the destructor" aka...Munchkin! :)
So last night Hubby and I ate at Cheeseburger in Paradise and stuffed ourselves. (The last time we ate there was when I was pregnant and we were going to go to Nebraska Furniture Mart to look for nursery furniture.) Then we headed off to shop. We found a cabinet that we like at a great sale price, but didn't buy anything so we can look around, and pray about how we should best use our money. Regardless, it was fun to be together just the two of us.
Please continue to keep Munchkin in your prayers. He is still sick. His nose is still running and now he has developed a bad cough. Here's praying he sleeps through the night, doesn't run a fever, and gets over this soon without a trip to the doctor. Thanks for praying!
One last note, Hubby and Munchkin are playing upstairs right now with our Fridge Farm. Hubby told me to blog about how Munchkin can now put the magnets on himself and he made a duck dog. (I know this will probably only make sense if you know what a Fridge Farm is...sorry!) Hubby wanted to brag on our little boy! It really is the little milestones that make us proud! Speaking of, Munchkin can now say "more" when he wants more food or drink. However, it sounds more like "maa" (rhymes with baa). But we'll take what we can get.

Ahhh...the power of prayer!
Thanks for the prayers, Munchkin slept through the night and we made it to MOPS this morning! He still has a terribly runny nose, but for the most part is doing good.
My friend who has cancer that I recently wrote about has a doctor's appointment on Thursday at 2:45 to see just exactly what "aggressive chemo and aggressive radiation" mean for her. She got through her surgery fine last week and has another surgery next week. Please continue to lift her up in prayer.

Hubby and I are going on a date tomorrow night!!! I'm super excited. We haven't even discussed what we're going to do - we just have Aunt. N. set up to babysit. Any suggestions for our date night? You know, besides the usual dinner and a movie. Not that dinner and a movie isn't fun - I'm just excited to be getting out of the house without a toddler in tow - but a more unique date would be nice. Who am I kidding, I'd have fun with hubby if all we did was go get groceries! :) It is so wonderful being married to my best friend. That was one of the biggest answered prayers of my life!

Happy Birthday Great Grandma V.!
-----------------------------------------------------------
My parents' 34th anniversary was yesterday. I didn't give them a shout out on my blog, but my sister did on hers, so in trying to keep up with her, I thought I better mention it on mine.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Munchkin still isn't feeling too well. He threw up today on the carpet in his room. It is official - no more of this baby stuff. We've moved on from spitting up to a more grown-up method. Yuck! Please say a prayer that he sleeps well tonight and wakes up feeling good so we can go to MOPS tomorrow!

Happy Easter!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hubby had Good Friday off, so we went up north to see some family for part of the weekend. Guess who we met for the first time?
Baby G! Welcome to the family. Baby G's dad (pictured) is Hubby's first cousin.
We spent Friday night at my parents' house. Here is my mom's dad (Great Gpa B) with Munchkin.

Yesterday before we came home, Munchkin had an Easter egg hunt.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Munchkin and I didn't get to make it to church today. I know - of all the days of the year to miss! I think Munchkin has a cold. While we were at my parents' house he kept sneezing and was fussy when we put him down for naps. This morning he woke up with a very runny nose, which he can't breathe out of, so he drools all over the place. He also had a bit of an upset tummy this morning. His nose was running so much I knew the nursery wouldn't take him at church, and they adjusted the church times due to Easter so I knew he would be a wreck if I took him into the service with me. He ended up taking a nap and is feeling somewhat better - but not totally as you can see by the next picture.
He and Hubby are watching golf. It is a rainy, dreary day.

Deanna Rose
We had so much fun at Deanna Rose - especially since Hubby called me and said he was taking the afternoon off so he could go with us! Yes, I DO have the best husband in the world. And he is also an incredible father.
We saw a lot more than just the pictures I've posted, but this at least gives you an idea of the afternoon we had. So fun! We'll certainly go again - good grief it is free! Yahoo!

It's Trash Day!
--------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday Munchkin and I ended up going for a walk around a lake that is just south of our house. It was fun, but windy. Today we're going to Deanna Rose. I'll post pictures later!
Happy Trash Day! :)
(Now you know what we celebrate every Wednesday)

Today's discoveries
1. Munchkin likes cantaloupe.
2. He is cutting tooth #13!
3. We are bored! I've been looking online for some sort of gym or class or something I can take Munchkin to during the day. There is only so much you can do at home. I am looking forward to warmer weather, which we are finally getting so at least we'll have more time outside. We just need a new activity - but something cheap! :) Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer than today, so I think we'll head out to Deanna Rose.
Hubby has Good Friday off! We're sooooo excited. We tried to get him to stay home with us today, but we failed. I know, somebody's got to make the money! :) But we just miss him. Munchkin and I were playing upstairs this morning and he kept yelling "dadda!" I kept telling him that he wasn't here, but Munchkin kept yelling for his dad. It was too cute!

A Moment of Humility
As I share with you a picture of my son putting his books in the dishwasher I have a heavy heart. A new friend in my life has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer - a very aggressive cancer. So aggressive that if they hadn't found it, the doctors told her she would have only had a month to live. She is having surgery on Wednesday and will have chemo and radiation. Please pray for her and her family. She has little girls and a husband. Thankfully she is a Christian and is really relying on her Savior right now - for He is truly all she can count on. I am humbled when I think about being in her shoes. Oh the every day moments I take for granted, just like the one pictured above. What if my future with my husband and son was uncertain? I guess in a sense, it really is anyway. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed for any of us. Oh how I pray I would live more like today was my last. Who knows how many days he/she has left? But at the same time I can rejoice because I know where I'm going after this life is over. Do you?

Happy Palm Sunday
Munchkin was talking up a storm after supper this evening so I snuck up on him to videotape it. I know you all liked the first video, so I thought I'd post another. Enjoy!
P.S. Working in the nursery went great!

Happy Birthday Baby G!
Ok, so he was actually born yesterday, but I didn't get a chance to wish him happy birthday yesterday. Munchkin's new baby cousin arrived yesterday morning. We got pictures of him yesterday and think he looks like both his mommy and daddy. We can't wait to meet him in person!
Hubby just left to pick up Munchkin from my sister's house. She babysat today because we had our small group over. I'm sure she'll post about it soon on her blog.
Last night I went out with my teacher friends. We went to dinner at Jose Peppers and then attempted to go bowling. The first bowling alley we got to didn't have any open lanes until 9:00 p.m. (and we're old women now so we can't wait that long) and the second bowling alley we went to put us on a waiting list. Can you believe that? Who knew bowling was so popular?! Needless to say, we ended up not bowling and just went to Pete's house instead.
Have I told you that I am starting to work in the nursery at our church? I'll be in the infant room the first Sunday of every month during the second service (10:30). I am so excited to be with the little babies! It will be nice to be able to hold actual babies again. I mean, Munchkin is no baby, he is 100% toddler!

Born to dance
I finally got a video of Munchkin dancing. He usually gets into it even more than this, but this video will hopefully give you an idea of what a music-loving boy we have. If you're wondering, he is dancing to a Sesame Street video he got for Christmas from Cousin Rebekah. Thanks for the video Rebekah - he loves it! By the way, Cousin Rebekah's due date was today. I haven't heard any news so Baby G must not be here yet. We can't wait to meet him when he does arrive.

Busted x2
I caught Munchkin putting a cookie down a vent in our kitchen today. Busted!!! Did I mention I caught him too late?
I made homemade pizza for supper with dough from scratch. After I had mixed the dough and set it to rise my phone rang. I went into the living room to get it and when I got back in the kitchen Munchkin had the wooden spoon I had used to mix the dough (how he got it I'll never know) and there was dough on his face. Busted!!! I tried to get a picture (especially since he was just in his shirt and diaper) but couldn't get a good one. He's too quick once the camera comes out!

S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G
It is official. We are having to spell in front of Munchkin. He is just too smart for his own britches. Here are some of the words we are having to spell:
bath
outside
sippy cup
Today I tried to get a video of him dancing. The boy absolutely loves music. I don't think it turned out very good. I'll try again and will hopefully post one soon!
